It was originally scheduled to launch this morning. The delay is due to a range safety instrumentation issue.
The missile will travel 4,200 miles across the Pacific, and is one in a series of periodic launches to ensure the intercontinental missile force is reliable.
Last month, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel postponed a test launch from Vandenberg because of tension with North Korea.
Vandenberg officials say this is the first Minuteman III launch for the base this year.
