Two Men Lead CHP On High-Speed Chase Through Northern SLO County

Atascadero, CA – The CHP arrested two men this morning after a high-speed chase in North San Luis County. The incident started a little after seven when two men driving a vehicle failed to pull over by the CHP and fled at high speeds from Highway 1 and Highway 46.

The two were driving at speeds up to 100 M.P.H. A spike strip failed to slow the vehicle, so did a PIT maneuver. During the chase, one CHP unit ran off the road into a culvert. The officer suffered minor injuries.

At Highway 1 and San Ramon Road, the suspects crashed and fled on foot. Several nearby schools were put in lockdown because of the escape. The suspects trying to flee from local police, a CHP helicopter and SLO County Sheriff’s deputies were finally apprehended and taken to jail.
