Three Arroyo Grande Stores Caught Selling Tobacco To Minor

CigarettesThe Arroyo Grande Police Department in cooperation with the San Luis Obispo County Tobacco Control Program got the help of a teenager to attempt to buy tobacco at 18 retail locations.  Three stores sold tobacco products to the minor.  This is nearly a 17-percent illegal sales rate for this compliance check.

Albertson’s at 1100 32 Branch Street, Valero at 610 E- Grand Avenue, and Chevron at 251 E- Grand Avenue are the three stores that sold tobacco to the underage teen.

There are a series of penalties for the storeowners if their establishment is caught selling tobacco to minors including a possible tobacco license suspension.

The Tobacco Control Program will continue to work with the Arroyo Grande Police Department to conduct compliance checks in order to help keep tobacco products out of the hands of minors.
