Environmentalists are thanking the whales for the third year in a row. The Thank You Whales celebration is set for Saturday at the Avila Community Center on San Miguel Street.Organizers say the celebration started in 2012 because whales showed up just in time to stop seismic testing. In 2013, the whales showed up in time to shine a light on fracking off shore. The celebration starts at 9:30 a.m. with events throughout the day. The closing ceremony starts at sunset at Olde Port Beach.
