SLOCFD Responds To Student Housing Fire, Keeps Blaze From Spreading

San Luis Obispo, CA — San Luis Obispo City Fire Department personnel responded to a report of smoke inside the Stenner Glen Apartments at 1050 Foothill at 12:04 p.m. yesterday.  Upon arrival fire crews found thick, black smoke billowing from a bedroom window on the 2nd floor of Tower 7.  This fire had the potential of spreading to multiple units of the 54 bedroom unit student housing building.  A fire attack by San Luis Obispo City Firefighters kept the fire from spreading from outside of the bedroom.

No emergency response personnel or civilians were injured fighting this blaze.

The fire appears to have started on top of a mattress in a vacant, locked bedroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is being deemed suspicious in nature.
