SLO Sheriff’s Office On The Lookout For Missing 65 Year Old Man From Nipomo Mesa

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue teams are currently searching the Nipomo Mesa area for a missing 65 year old man who was reported missing on November 3rd. Rafael Chavez Gonzalez was reported to have last been seen on or about October 21, 2013 on the property of a family member located in the 2400 block of Willow Road on the Nipomo Mesa. Gonzalez is a known transient who frequents the downtown Oceano and railroad track areas. Sheriff deputies and investigators have been unable to establish any verifiable sightings since October 21st when it is suspected that he voluntarily left the family property and may have attempted to walk back to the Oceano area. Rafael Chavez Gonzalez is described as a Hispanic male adult, 65 years of age, 5'8" tall, approximately 165 lbs, with gray hair, blue eyes, brown/gray facial hair, and is a left arm amputee. Gonzalez was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light blue with dark stripes shirt, tan Dickies sweatshirt, and dark colored shoes. He was possibly last known carrying a blue cloth Wal-Mart shopping bag containing personal items.
