Shumey Ruled Guilty Of Second Degree Murder

A jury decided yesterday that Christopher Shumey is guilty of second-degree murder for shooting his mother to death with a shotgun.

The jury, who decided that Shumey was not guilty of first-degree murder, will now decide if he was sane at the time.

Shumey was also convicted of assaulting a police officer.

Shumey shot his mother in September of 2011 outside his apartment in San Luis Obispo after the two had quarreled.
