Settlement Agreement Has Been Reached to Eliminate Billboards

A settlement agreement has been reached between the City of San Luis Obispo and CBS Outdoor LLC over the elimination of several billboards.  One of the billboards to be removed is a large two-paneled sign and is located at 1960 Santa Barbara Avenue adjacent to Railroad Square and the Railroad Museum.

The other two billboards slated for immediate removal are within the City’s popular Johnson Ranch Open Space. The future removal of a fourth billboard along the Calle Joaquin Agricultural Open Space Reserve west of the 101 Freeway was also agreed to. This billboard will be removed in 2024 per a clarified lease agreement.

Terms of the agreement require work for the three billboards scheduled for immediate removal to be completed by CBS Outdoor within 60 days from agreement execution which occurred on May 21, 2014.
