SLO Police are still looking for a motorist who ran into a police car earlier this week. Sgt. Jeff Booth was driving a marked police vehicle when he entered the northbound 101 Freeway at the Prado Road entrance. While traveling northbound on the freeway a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed ran into the back end of Booth’s vehicle. The impact caused the police car to loose traction and slide off the roadway into the center median of the freeway where it impacted with a guardrail.
Fortunately Sgt. Booth was wearing proper restraints and air bags, which were deployed. Sgt. Booth sustained only minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The suspect vehicle, an early 2000 model Chevy Silverado pickup with a ladder in the bed, fled the scene northbound on 101.
At this time the San Luis Obispo CHP is in charge of the investigation. Additional leads regarding the suspect vehicle and its driver are being developed. Citizens with information are encouraged to contact the CHP at 593-3333.
