San Simeon, CA -- The name of the kite boarder that was injured Thursday afternoon has been released. 43-year-old (not 34, as previously reported) Kinsley Thomas Wong of Pismo Beach was in critical condition Friday morning in the intensive care unit of Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
Emergency responders found Wong on the beach near San Simeon and reported he was unconscious and unresponsive but breathing. A witness saw that a gust of wind caught Wong’s kite, and he apparently was pulled out of the water and dropped on the rocks. A CalFire helicopter took Wong to Twin Cities Community Hospital he was transferred to Sierra Vista later in the evening.
