Prop 16 Gets 'No' Vote From SLO County Board of Supervisors
King Harris Reporting
San Luis Obispo, CA -- The County Board of Supervisors formally opposes Proposition 16, which would require two-thirds voter approval for a local government to take over electricity service. According to the Tribune, the council said that “the initiative is anti-democratic and would impede the county’s ongoing efforts to develop alternative energy sources.” Supervisor Jim Patterson said the two-thirds requirement would be a virtual death sentence for any local government's plans to take over power service.
The board’s longest-serving supervisor, Katcho Achadjian, who is termed out and is running for state Assembly, voted against the resolution.
