Nipomo -- A woman reported missing was caught after a high speed chase up Highway 101 Friday morning. 26-year-old Jessica Albrooke was reported missing in Huntington Beach at about 8:45. Through GPS tracking, the CHP spotted her near Donovan Road in Santa Maria. When the CHP officer got out of his car to talk to her, she sped off. The officer gave chase. She again pulled over just north of Santa Maria River Bridge. This time a second officer positioned his car in front of Albrooke’s as an attempt to keep her from driving off again. That failed to stop her. She navigated around the CHP car and sped up to 120 mph.
A CHP officer at Tefft Street in Nipomo laid down a spike strip as Albrooke approached. Her front right tire blew out, and she slowed to about 15 mph. Albrooke exited the highway at Los Berros. She stopped her car, got out and ran. CHP officers tackled her, and got her restrained.
But, she wasn’t done. While in the back seat of the CHP car, she kicked out a window. Albrooke’s been charged with evading and resisting arrest. She’s also being subjected to a mental health evaluation.
