Santa Barbara County -- Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies have put a stop to a crime spree in the Santa Maria Valley. About three months ago the investigation started after an agricultural business on Foxen Canyon Road reported that someone had broken into a storage shed and taken thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
Over the next few weeks more than $100,000 worth of stuff was stolen in similar crimes. In some occurrences the burglars would use company tractors to vandalize the properties.
Last week deputies arrested five adults and one youth on suspicion of the crimes. The adults have been booked into county jail for burglary, vandalism and criminal conspiracy. Bail was set at $20,000 each. The 17-year-old has been booked into juvenile hall.
