Paso Robles -- The Paso Robles City Council approved a new uniform structure water rate. The new system will not have a fixed fee to pay for the city’s portion of the Nacimiento Water Project. Currently water customers in Paso pay about $1.30 per unit of water, plus a fixed fee of $18. With the uniform plan the fee will be dropped and users will pay $2.50 per unit in 2011, which will gradually increase to $4.40 in 2015.
According to the Tribune, the Concerned Citizens for Paso Robles helped delay the process; now the water customers will begin paying for water they can’t use for two years because the new rates will also pay for a treatment plant to make the water drinkable.
