Serious Crime Is Down

San Luis Obispo -- Serious crime reduced by 13% last year as compared to same period in 2008. That according to the California Attorney General Preliminary Crime Report released yesterday.

The attorney general's report reflects serious crime in California is down across the state when reviewing homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Pat Hedges is “pleased at the preliminary numbers showing crime is down in the county.” But Hedges is “concerned that this snapshot does not take into account the new law changes that deal with early release of prison inmates.”  He also worries about the upcoming staffing reductions and budget matters that will have negative impacts.
