San Luis Obispo -- Tobacco products will be banned in San Luis Obispo public places. Last night the city council unanimously agreed to prohibit smoking and chewing tobacco in public parks, the Mission Plaza, the downtown creek area, and the city’s open space reserves.
Council members asked the staff to come back with a more comprehensive proposal that will ban tobacco in other outdoor areas including sidewalks, shopping centers, and any place outside commercial businesses in the city. That proposal is expected in three to four months.
