Woman Accused of Abusing Her Granddaughter Enters Plea

The Atascadero woman, whose home was set ablaze back in April, has changed her plea for abusing her granddaughter, to no contest. 43-year-old Tammi Underwood will receive a maximum sentence of six years for a felony child endangerment charge. Underwood was accused of locking her 9-year-old granddaughter in a closet and depriving her of food for days at a time. According to the Tribune, she is being held in County Jail until she is sentenced on September 29. Underwood’s home was intentionally set on fire on April 3. No one has been arrested in connection with the blaze.
