Templeton Schools Ban Cell Phones

A San Luis Obispo County School District will start banning electronic devices in the fall. Templeton school board President, Larry Miller says the ban is designed to keep cell phones, iPods, and other devices from interupting instruction. The Tribune says the students can still have their phones, but they must have them turned off and out of sight during the school day. Any student caught with an electronic device out during the school day, including breaks, will be subjected to punishments that range from a warning to a one day suspension. Miller says the devices haven’t been a problem yet, but the school board wants to be clear on the rules before they become one.
