Transient Man Arrested for Assaulting His Girlfriend

A transient man is behind bars in lieu of $500,000 bail for assaulting his girlfriend. The Tribune reports that police took 58-year-old Jesse Newton into custody on suspicion of torture, domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. He remains in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
