Two Men Convicted of First Degree Murder

Two men accused of murdering Joshua Houlgate in December of 2007 have heard the jury’s verdict. 37-year-old Chad Westbrook and 19-year-old Patrick Wollett were found guilty of first degree murder. Houlgate was found with a fatal gunshot wound outside of Wollett’s home in Oceanaire Mobile Home Park in San Luis Obispo. According to The Tribune, prosecutors say Wollett beat the newly engaged couple, Houlgate and Sarah Lonsinger-Rey, because they had sex. Westbrook then shot Houlgate. Defense attorney’s say Lonsinger-Rey’s testimony was unreliable because she was high on meth. Wollett and Westbrook will be back in court August 5 for their sentencing.
