Santa Barbara, CA -- The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred on Lassen Drive in Santa Barbara California.  On Thursday, February 16, at 9:16 a.m., the Santa Barbara Emergency Communication Center received a call from Lifeline advising that they had received an alert from one of their customers who was advising that she had been attacked.  Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies responded while emergency medical personnel staged nearby.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies found the resident, an 89 year old woman, on the floor of her living room, unable to get up.  After verifying that no suspects were still in the residence medical personnel were summoned to assist the resident.  She was determined to be physically uninjured.  

Investigating deputies learned the following from the resident: She went to her front door to answer her doorbell.  As she opened the door a subject pushed her backward into her house and down the hallway to her living room.  The subject pushed her to the floor of the living room and held her there for a moment before releasing her.  The subject then went into the adjacent dining room.  When the subject was in the adjacent room the resident activated her Lifeline Medical Alert button that she wears.  The Lifeline equipment inside the residence began announcing an audible signal stating “Medical Call in Progress.” The audible alert caused the subject to flee from the residence.

he suspect is described as a male about 5’7” tall with a medium to “squatty” build. This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time.
