Hearst Would Not Approve of Movie To Be Shown At His Castle

San Luis Obispo, CA -- The newspaper magnate would never have approved of a screening of “Citizen Kane” at the landmark California castle he built and that still bears his name.  William Randolph Hearst's grandson Steve has approved a showing of the 1941 Orson Welles classic on March 9th at this year's San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.

The film was suggested by the life of Hearst, but never meant to be seen as historically accurate.  Nevertheless, Hearst was deeply offended and managed to keep ads for the film out of many of his newspapers.  "Citizen Kane” will be shown Friday evening March 9th at the Hearst Castle following a reception with actor Harrison Ford among the honored guests.
