Santa Barbara, CA -- A mother and daughter injured in a dramatic car crash on a bridge on Highway 101 south of Buellton have been released a hospital in Santa Barbara. Kelli Groves and her 10-year-old daughter, Sage, walked out last week, but both will require extensive recovery and rehabilitation. Kelli’s 11-week- old baby, Mylo had been treated and released earlier. Hospital officials said the Groves family is now focusing its strength and energy on recovering from the traumatic ordeal that occurred January 12 near Buellton. And they remain concerned for and extend their prayers to family and loved ones of Charles Allison, Jr., the truck driver killed in the incident, which is still under investigation.
Allison, driving a big rig, slammed into the back of Groves’ BMW, which was left precariously dangling on the Nojoqui Creek bridge railing. The semi went through the railing and dropped 100 feet to the creek below. The truck caught fire, and Allison was killed. The Groves family was dramatically rescued with the help of the SEABEES.
