Paso Robles, CA -- The CHP continues to investigate a drunk driving crash that killed a Paso Robles man early New Year's Day. He has been identified as 19-year-old Lester Klyne Lara. Lara was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by 20-year-old Eric Michael Luth Luth was traveling west on Linne Road just east of Paso Robles at 3 a.m. Sunday. He reportedly crashed the Ford after trying to pass a slower vehicle, identified as a 2006 Mitsubishi sedan.Lara was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the truck, which ultimately struck a large oak tree and landed on him, causing fatal injuries. Another passenger was not injured. Luth, who was taken to Twin Cities Hospital with critical injuries, was later arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. The driver of the Mitsubishi, 18-year-old Tanner Storsteen, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI after the incident. Three passengers with him were not cited.
