San Luis Obispo, CA -- A Pismo Beach woman is recovering from minor injuries today after losing control of her car and driving into a McDonald’s restaurant on Madonna Road yesterday afternoon. The San Luis Obispo Police Department responded to a call of a rollover accident at the McDonald’s located at 275 Madonna about 5:30.  When Officers arrived, they found the vehicle driven by 85-year-old Verna Gladstone on its roof and resting up against the eatery.  The vehicle sustained major damage, and caused broken windows and minor structural damage to McDonald's.  

Prior to the accident, police say that Gladstone was traveling West on Madonna Road, preparing to make a left hand turn into the parking lot.  It appears that Gladstone lost control of her vehicle and broadsided a vehicle traveling in the right lane on eastbound Madonna. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were uninjured.

Gladstone was extricated from the vehicle by the San Luis Obispo Fire Department.  Gladstone sustained only minor injuries, and was transported to French Hospital for further evaluation.  No patrons were injured inside the McDonald's.
