Power Outage Blamed For Sewage Spill

Cambria, CA -- A sewage release was reported to the San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Health on Sunday, December 17 at 9:30 PM.  Approximately 10,000 gallons of sewage was released to Santa Rosa Creek in the vicinity of Windsor Blvd. and Shamel Park.

The release was due to a power outage at the waste water treatment plant.  The power outage was the result of a blown breaker in the electrical panel.  An electrician restored power to the plant using an emergency generator, according to the county.

The county advises avoiding the waters of Santa Rosa Creek and the ocean at Moonstone Beach Park, advising that coming into contact or ingesting contaminated waters could be hazardous.
