San Luis Obispo, CA -- San Luis Police is investigating a traffic accident between a United Blood Services bus and a Ford Focus which injured a man seriously enough to be taken to the hospital. The accident occurred yesterday afternoon at about 4 at Broad and Fiero.
Emergency personnel worked to extricate the driver of the Focus, which had left the roadway following the collision and gone down a small embankment on the west side of Broad St. The bus also left the roadway on the opposite side of Broad St.
The driver of the Blood Bank bus was uninjured. The driver of the Focus was taken to French Hospital with serious injuries.
The initial investigation has determined that the bus was south bound on Broad St. and the Focus was making a left turn onto north bound Broad St. from Fiero Lane, and entered the intersection in the path of the bus.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be a factor in this collision. The names of the drivers are not currently available.
