Pismo Beach, CA -- The woman who was struck and killed by an SUV near the Cliff’s Resort in Shell Beach has been identified as a long-time employee of KSBY television. Police say Tricia Rittger of Los Osos had parked her car across the street and was walking towards the resort about 6:50 p.m.when she was hit by a man driving an older model SUV who claims he didn’t see her. Rittger was rushed to Arroyo Grande Hospital where she died at 7:35.  

Pismo Beach Police, who haven’t released the name of the SUV driver, say he was going under the 40 mph speed limit on Shell Beach Road, and said neither alcohol or distractions like a cell phone appeared to be involved. The driver has not been cited.

According to acquaintances, Rittger was on her way to join some friends and then go out to a movie Saturday night. Rittger, who was 39, graduated from Cal Poly and after working in Colorado joined KSBY in 1988 and ended up being national sales manager.

She leaves behind her husband Aaron and their 4-year-old daughter. Memorial services will be held Sunday at noon at the Cliffs Resort.
