San Luis Obispo, CA -- A woman accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from two non-profits has pleaded no contest to two counts of grand theft. 48-year-old Morgan Rafferty was accused of embezzling $31 thousand from Mothers for Peace where she served as treasurer and a similar amount from ECOSLO where she was executive director. A no-contest plea results in a conviction without an admission of guilt. As part of a plea agreement a third charge of grand theft has been dismissed. Rafferty’s crimes took place between 2007 and 2009.
The D.A.’s office says Rafferty may apply for a home detention program in place of serving jail time.
