San Luis Obispo, CA -- Today is the start of the 2011-2012 open burn season in San Luis Obispo County. The burn season affects the burning of residential yard trimmings in backyards and agricultural wastes. You’ll need a burn permit from the Air Pollution Control District. Get a permit at the APCD office, or most libraries, selected community service district offices and the county ag office. For more info, click SLOCleanAir.org. Send a check for $50. No credit cards or electronic payments. CalFire does not hand out permits.
