San Luis Obispo, CA -- The CHP is investigating a crash that killed a Shandon man yesterday morning. Just after 8, 29-year-old Ryan Hansen Block plunged off Highway 101 south of the grade near Reservation Canyon Road. His white KIA Sedona minivan went down a fifty foot embankment, plowing through trees and a fence. The CHP, who said Block died at the scene, claims he was wearing a seat belt, but don’t know yet what caused him to leave the highway. They do say he was going at a high rate of speed. Block was arrested and released by the CHP November 1 because Block was driving with a suspended license due to drug charges. Block was also under investigation for a meth lab operation, on going burglary charges, and was considered armed and dangerous. His autopsy is scheduled for today.
