Paso Robles Police Investigating Knife Altercation



Paso Robles, CA -- On 11/01/2011, at approximately 10:25 PM, Paso Robles Police Department officers were dispatched to 2218 Spring Street, the Economy Inn, regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 25 year-old male with stab wounds to his chest. Thomas Yanez of Paso Robles was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital for treatment. He currently is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Witnesses reported that a second male was also stabbed and left the area prior to officer arrival. The second individual is believed to be 27 year-old Michael Reyes of Paso Robles. Witness reported Reyes had knife wounds to his neck and face. Reyes has yet to be located by officers.

Officers contacted several witnesses who reported seeing the two men in an altercation around the time of the stabbing. Investigators are currently trying to determine the reasons for the altercation and stabbing. However, investigators suspect the incident to be gang related. No other victims or suspects are believed to be involved.
