Paso Robles, CA -- The Paso Robles City Council is considering raising wastewater facility charges. The city is planning to upgrade its wastewater treatment plant, at a cost of 50 million dollars. One way to help pay for it would be to increase the charges for new developments to connect to the city sewer system. Right now, it costs $5,500 to connect a brand new home to the system. The current proposal would nearly double that, to $10,900, over a three-year period. The council voted last night to consider adoption of the proposed charges at its next meeting on November 1. The city is also in the process of increasing rates for current water users. Customers have a chance voice their opinion at a hearing scheduled for November 15.
