Paso Robles, CA -- Firefighters quickly extinguished a one-quarter acre grass fire in a drainage area behind a home on Crazy Horse Drive in Paso Robles Wednesday. It happened just before 6:00 p.m. The fire was declared contained fifteen minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters say previous weed abatement efforts in the drainage significantly reduced the amount of fuel available to the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Fire crews on the Central Coast are taking extra precautions because of recent hot temperatures and high winds. They said because temperatures have gotten into the high nineties, the air is dry and winds are strong, a fire could strike the central coast at any time and quickly spread. Crews are ready for what could happen, but they said it's important for people to also take precaution during this time of the season.
