Pismo Beach, CA -- It's been almost a year since a Washington state couple was killed in a crash in Pismo Beach. Yesterday, the man prosecutors say is responsible for their deaths was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Investigators say in October of last year, Jerardo Iriarte intentionally drove his car off of Highway 101 in Pismo Beach. His car landed across Price Street, crashing into 63-year-old Bruce Mallin and 59-year-old Marjorie Mallin. Both died at the scene.

Iriarte was originally charged with two counts of murder in the case. But, earlier this summer, Iriarte entered into a plea deal. He pleaded no contest to one count of murder, rather than the two counts he was originally charged with, averting a trial while not admitting guilt.
