San Luis Obispo, CA -- During his arraignment yesterday, 34-year-old Christopher John Shumey, who’s accused of shooting his mother to death last month, pleaded guilty to the charges of murder and assault with a firearm against a policeman. But Judge Michael Duffy rejected the plea after Shumey’s attorneys advised him of a history of mental health problems. The judge advised Shumey to continue discussing his case with his attorney. Another hearing is scheduled for mid-October.
