Traffic Collisions in the Past Forty-Eight Hours

Los Osos, CA -- Several crashes happened in the area over the last 48 hours, one took a life.

At about 9:20 yesterday morning, on Highway 166 in Kern County just past New Cuyama, two big rigs and a van collided, shutting down the roadway. One of the rigs was a propane tanker that exploded on impact. Flames had spread to the other vehicles involved by the time emergency crews arrived. One person in the van was killed. Both directions of Hwy. 166 were closed for approximately five hours while crews cleared the scene. As of 2:30, both lanes were open again. No names are being released at this time.

Sunday night, a female driver apparently was speeding near the Los Osos Valley Road exit on Highway 101 and flipped over. She was rushed to a hospital. Police say alcohol may have been a factor. And yesterday morning just after 8, a van and tractor collided west of Betteravia Road and Stinton Road, injuring four people. Two people suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital. All incidences are being investigated.
