Atascadero, CA -- An employee at Atascadero State Hospital was in stable condition yesterday following an assault on the hospital campus September 6. The assault happened around 11:30 on Unit 8. Hospital staff responded immediately and contained the situation. The patient, who is not being named, was arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for three felonies including attempted rape, kidnapping and indecent exposure.

As of yesterday, he was still being held in county jail. The employee is on leave following the incident and is in stable condition. Details of the assault haven’t been released and the incident is under investigation.
