More Than a Dozen at Sunny Acres Must Find Another Place to Live

San Luis Obispo, CA -- More than a dozen people who call Dan Devaul’s Sunny Acres ranch home will have to find another place to live, after a judge ruled yesterday that all residents living in unsafe structures or outdoors must vacate the property. If not, the county would appoint a receiver, meaning Devaul would lose control his ranch. Devaul says, While it was a tough choice to make, keeping control of his ranch is most important.

But where will the soon to be displaced residents go? Some say they will be forced to live in their cars while others will simply try to avoid going back to the creek or the streets. Devaul is also in the process of trying to build a 14-bedroom home to use as a sober-living facility but the county says the project will only move forward once all of the code violations are taken care of.
