Morro Bay, CA -- Morro Bay police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly holding his girlfriend captive and torturing her. Andrew David Mattson was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, torture and false imprisonment. The alleged incident happened at Mattson’s girlfriend’s house on Ironwood Avenue. The Tribune reports the couple was arguing Tuesday evening, and it quickly escalated into physical violence. In a press release police say Mattson “restrained the victim, locked her in a closet at her home for several hours and threatened her life while assaulting her with a knife.”
The victim sustained moderate injuries from the repeated attacks, and has received medical attention. Mattson was on parole for nonviolent offenses at the time of the incident. Police arrested him Wednesday and booked him into County Jail.
