San Luis Obispo, CA -- An Oceano property owner has applied to open a medical marijuana collective. If the plan is approved, it would be the first such business operating in San Luis Obispo County. Tammy Murray, owner of Compassionate Cannabis Information Center in Goshen, southeast of Fresno, says she wants to open a similarly named collective on South Fourth Street. Like at her Goshen business, the medical marijuana would be provided on a consignment basis by farmers, who would also be members of the collective.Medical marijuana facilities have not fared well in the county; most of the seven cities have rules in place banning them. A dispensary in Morro Bay that opened in 2006 was closed about a year later after the SLO County Sheriff’s Department and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency officials raided it and said they found federal and state violations. However, voters in that city narrowly defeated a proposal to ban dispensaries in November.
