Cayucos, CA -- The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department says a 45-year-old man died last night after being rescued off the coast of Cayucos. It happened near the 3000 block of Studio Drive.

Investigators say the man fell off his boogie board and was in distress, when his wife called for help. He was taken from the water by a fire rescue boat and transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man’s identity is being with held until his family is notified.
