Paso Robles, CA -- A Paso Robles woman was found guilty yesterday of three felony counts in a scheme to rip off the U.S. and California departments of education. In 2007, Jean Cross submitted an application for more than $35 million in grant money that contained forged signatures. She did so on behalf of a non-profit based in Riverside County. The grant was awarded but returned when the forged signatures came to light. Cross faces a maximum sentence of 35 years in federal prison.
