Oceano Resident Busted for Fourty-Three Grams of Meth

Arroyo Grande, CA -- An Oceano resident was arrested last week after Arroyo Grande police officers said they found over 43 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle. 69-year-old Richard Allen Howell was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation and sale of a controlled substance and a probation violation. Howell was stopped for a minor equipment violation on Fair Oaks Avenue. A K9 unit in the area stopped to assist the traffic stop. The dog, Gregor, was able to sniff out the narcotics that were hidden under a loose vent on the dashboard. Howell, who is on felony probation for a narcotics-related offense, was booked into SLO County Jail late Tuesday. He had posted bail by Thursday.
