Motor Home Catches Fire In Grover Beach

Grover Beach, CA — Five Cities Fire responded to a motor home fire over the weekend at the corner of Oak Park and West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach.

The driver of the motor home, 53-year-old David Jackson of Visalia, said while attempting to start the engine, he heard a backfire and observed flames coming from under the engine cowling.  Mr. Jackson was able to exit the motor home with only minor burns. He refused further medical treatment.

The motor home, parked on an incline, began to roll down the incline and came to a stop against shrubbery and landscape boulders.  Five Cities firefighters simultaneously rendered first aid to the driver and extinguished the flames.

The motor home and its contents were a total loss.  No nearby structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
