Yesterday afternoon, Pismo Beach Police Department Officers responded to the train tracks near Hwy. 101 and Five Cities Drive regarding a pedestrian who was stuck by an Amtrak passenger train. The victim, a twenty-two year old male, was located near the tracks and had sustained injuries from the collision. Cal Fire and San Luis Ambulance personnel arrived on scene to assist. The injured male was transported to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center to be treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Investigators from both Union Pacific and Amtrak police were on scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the collision. The male was believed to have been crossing the train tracks just prior to the collision, which is unlawful and considered trespassing.
