Hit And Run Suspect Arrested

Nipomo, CA — Police on Wednesday arrested 23-year-old Marie M. Coyner from Nipomo on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in the death of 24-year-old Christopher J. Tietjen of Nipomo.

Tietjen’s body was found Monday off North Thompson Avenue, partially hidden by grass and brush.  Coyner was driving a 2007 Toyota Prius that officers think struck Tietjen. She was taken to SLO County Jail on Wednesday with bail set at $50,000.  

Vehicle parts at the scene of the collision led investigators to determine the kind of car that hit Tietjen. Tips from residents helped police locate Coyner.
