Authorities have arrested the guy who collided with a San Luis Obispo police car on December 31. His name is Wade Evin Hamby from Clovis.
On January 5 police arrested Hamby at 243 p.m. in Santa Maria. He was taken into custody for fleeing the scene of an accident, which resulted in the injury to another person. That person was SLO PD Sergeant Jeff Booth.
On December 31 about 6:17 in the morning, Booth was driving his marked Chevy SUV on routine patrol entering northbound 101 from Prado Road. Hamby struck Booth from behind, causing Booth to lose control of his vehicle. Booth struck the center guardrail.
After the collision, Hamby was seen leaving the area northbound on 101 and taking the Madonna road exit. Booth was treated for injuries at the scene.
