Hash Oil Conversion Lab Discovered During Home Fire

San Luis Obispo, CA — Tuesday, members of the Sheriff's Narcotics Task Force responded to assist San Luis Obispo Police Department for a suspected butane hash oil conversion lab.  The suspected lab was located at a residence, 1716 Lynn Rd., San Luis Obispo.  The lab was discovered when a fire began at the residence that ultimately resulted in several explosions.

Responding fire and law enforcement personnel noticed a very large quantity of butane cylinders and a large quantity of marijuana.  This discovery prompted the Police Department's request for assistance.  Sheriff's lab-certified Narcotics personnel responded with protective equipment and recovered evidence of a conversion lab.

Evidence seized: 180 lbs of marijuana, a scale, five conversion cylinders, and additional processing equipment.  On scene were several hundred butane cylinders.  

As of this hour one subject is in custody.  She is the resident of the lab site.  She is 56-year-old Candice Garcia, charged with operating a conversion lab, and possession of marijuana.  The investigation is ongoing.
