Residents of Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Oceano received ballots more than a week ago regarding a proposed property assessment. If the assessment is approved, The Five Cities Fire Authority could get roughly $1 million in funding. According to Chief Mike Hubert, that money would help maintain the current personnel staffing. It would also go toward consolidating the dispatch center, replacing aging equipment and maintaining things like the ladder truck. The funds would come from an increase in property taxes. The ballots have to be mailed in by April 4. To pass, the measure needs support by 50% of property owners, plus one.
